Here's another old, aged domain that has a story. 

No worries, it all ends with a total e-commerce site wipe out! 

Looking at the old WordPress upload file year, the age of the favicon file and the different colored logos had 2019 on them. (Some files had the 2018 ... when I took a screenshot of spam attempts by the thousands, yeah, they all got blocked)... 

Anyway, the idea for this domain was for a "brand site".  

I contracted with a vendor in California that would supply me with the products and they handled  fulfillment and distribution, while I handled the tech side. 

The domain sold nice home decors and stuff, so they were all pretty. 

And heavy. 

It was nice because each product had a real nice description and I customized also to include all possible questions a buyer might ask.  Like where it's made, weight, height, color, variations, if any, and really nice retina pictures.   

This, I think was when I truly polished my self built WP Theme called Simplified. 

I didn't put it out in the WP Marketplace, but I had the same Simplified Theme deployed across 25+ WP Sites. 

It only had Version 1.0. 

Like ever. 

No updates needed. 

And I actually still use it on the 5 WP Installations that I still have. 

Back to the domain. 

So I had that vendor in California, I thought I should also sell some custom products .... 

... like MERCH! 

So I was doing the research and stuff, and around this time, I was ALSO doing some travels overseas, so I thought, why not get products that I also use? 

Backpack. 

A sturdy one. 

So I got some supplies but the "labeling part" was outsourced. 

They had to stitch the logos on the backpacks. 

I suck at sewing, so I knew I can't wing the sewing part.  LOL! 

I think what sucked the most, was when you purchase the backpacks, and then the company you outsource it to to do the sewing seemed like they fell asleep while sewing the logos on the backpacks. 

The "Brand Products" wasn't just backpacks. 

There was that little "airport friendly" little pouch, where you can put "liquids and stuff" that you put on the airport trays, when airlines passengers are going through Security, and you get your doze of airport radiation as you go through the scanner. 

Anyway, that little "pouch", also had logos printed on them. 

Same thing, some of the pouches, they were supposed to be rectangle shape. 

But a lot of the batches sent to me, looked like the one sewing those materials together truly fell asleep. 

It wasn't even about quality control anymore.  

The sewer just had to control the dang sewing machine!  

Then there was also the keychain measuring tape.  That was okay too.  

I thought I had to also order a microscope, because the vendor printers ended up printing the logo a tad bit too small.    

Then there were the customized magnets. 

That turned out okay.  I mean, how can one mess up a magnet? 

Then there was the little circle portable 5 USB ports. 

Now THAT was great! 

I actually was able to use that a lot during travels, power outages, etc. 

So more and more products were on the website. 

Then, con vid happened.  

My main suppliers went bankrupt - closed shop. 

After all that work building the shop... gone. 

BUT, I still had my own products, so why not keep on keeping on? 

Oops... WP Core updates.  Oops, WP Plugin updates. 

I turned the shop into another Demo Shop. 

Then some one-click installer - whoever ran it on the oldwebhost backend -  overwrote the entire site.  WIPED out the "This is a Demo Site" ... and people actually purchased about 1K worth of products! 

Shortly after, one by one I noticed the wipe out of about 25+ WP installations that I am an Admin of. 

I thought, maybe I should just have a domain name called "Depressify" ... 

... because all these stories are like.... if it didn't happen to me, I wouldn't believe it! 

So there I was looking through these old product files ... 

I am just looking for 2 files ... favicon and logo... 

so I can do this instance of CMSbyCW. 

You might ask, so what happened to the customized "brand products"? 

They are inventory. 

My own brand backpack, the first prototype - I am still using - it has more than 12 international trips - still works, no ripped zippers, still looks good. 

So what happens to this domain now? 

For now, it will showcase the CMSbyCW ... 

... I found some nice screenshots of how the site used to look... 

I am just not comfortable going back to using WP for a Shopping Cart. 

I also advise people: 

Just use Ama zon or E bay, if they want to see something. 

If it's just one product, even a simple PayPal button works. 

I remember using this domain also for when I would sell something on e bay and use the site for the images of the products.  For now, I'm one of those types of "tech-weary" people who just want the site I build to stay built, AS IS. 

This is the second website I've completed today so far.  

All of these "About this domain" stories of these aged domains will be published also on our Tech site, so it's easier to see how many sites are using it so far.  

There is some developer behind a website, always.  At times people forget.  So these stories are good to note.
